INPA was founded in 2007, following a meeting at the WCPT 2007 conference, Vancouver. It was formed from a core group of neurological physical therapists from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Netherlands.
Mary Solomon (Canada) led the submission to become an official sub group of WCPT. INPA was approved as a subgroup of WCPT at the 17th General Meeting of WCPT, in Amsterdam (2011) and reconfirmed at the 18th WCPT General meeting in Singapore. The current Board was elected at the first INPA General Meeting, Singapore, 2015.

Objectives and Key Functions
To facilitate collaboration in neurological physical therapy.
To provide a Voice internationally for neurological physical therapy.
To maintain WCPT sub-group status at the 2019 general meeting.
